This year we’re working through the Waldock Wizards and Wands Homeschool Curriculum developed by Jessica Waldock from The Waldock Way.
This year-long study has students reading Harry Potter books, watching the movies and completing related extension activities. The subjects covered include: Alchemy, Astronomy, Charms, Enchantments, Herbology, Incantations, Magical Creatures, Muggle Studies, Potions, and Spells. It is designed for Grades 2-6. During our first week using the Waldock’s Wizards and Wands curriculum we celebrated Harry Potter’s birthday at the library and were treated to a birds of prey presentation from The Center for Birds of Prey in Awendaw, SC.
If you’re looking for activities to do with younger kids while working through the Harry Potter Homeschool curriculum, consider this DIY Harry Potter scarf bookmark.
Another fun activity for little ones not quite ready to jump in to the Harry Potter books and movies is this adorable Harry Potter character matching game! This would be a great activity to keep young hands busy while you’re working with older wizards.
The Waldock’s Wizards and Wands curriculum has been a lot of fun for us so far. We will likely use it through the holidays and include some fun Harry Potter themed Advent activities and Christmas gifts to conclude the lesson. I’ve already purched this Harry Potter LEGO Advent Calendar so I’m really running with the Harry Potter theme this year!
